Madrid

OK, I got lazy and stopped posting after I left the Camino. So let me say a few things about Madrid. It’s a lively city. During the day there are people everywhere buy you can usually fine a table in the middle of the day for a Canà and tapas. After 9pm the cafes and restaurants are crowded. It was great eating all our meals outside I the many plazas close to our apartment.
There a lot of panhandlers in Madrid. They are mostly Gypsies.
If you speak some Spanish it’s a good thing, but we got by OK. It’s a tourist city so most pele know what you’re asking about. I used the word “caná” a lot. It means a small glass of the beer they have on tap.
Sightseeing was great too. We saw the Prado Museum with works of art by Goya, Velázquez, Bosh and Rubins. Very impressive.
We also saw the Royal Palace and the stadium where Real Madrid plays.
The weather was hot about 90 every day. They said it was hotter than normal for this time of year.
Next we took the high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona. 300 km/hr. That’s 180 miles/hr. About the same speed of a plane landing.
