Barcelona

This will be my last post on our trip to Spain. If I go someplace worth bloging about in the future I’ll let you all know.
We had a nice apartment in Barcelona but it was in an area of Barcelona of mostly people from India and Bangladesh. Very nice people but overall a poorer neighborhood, with shops and restaurants geared more for their tastes. It was just a 10 minute walk to the more traditional parts of the city.
We did a couple of days of the on/off tour buses. It’s a great way to get an overall view of the city.
We went to the Sagrada Familia, the cathedral the architect Gaudi started building in the 1880’s. It is awesome. The inside is almost completed. The exterior won’t be complete until around 2026. We also spent time at the harbor. Lots of shops and restaurants. And I took another tour of a football stadium. FC Barcelona.
Another very cool tour was to the Benedictine Monastery at Montserrat. We took a funicular ride up the mountain and heard the boys choir sing inside the church.
So, I was gone almost a month. I haven’t been away from home that long since I was in the Navy.
It’s good to be home.
